Day 36: Thursday 3 July 2003. Stirling to Lawrence, Kansas
Weather: sunny. Up at 6am after 2 hours' sleep (Cathy had none). Drove to Edinbugh, flew to London, where after clearing security and walking miles to the gate American Airlines discovered that the toilets didn't work on our plane. Waited ages for a replacement aircraft (Boeing 777) to be fuelled and made ready, and eventually took off for Chicago. Of course we missed our connection so had to wait at Chicago 4 hours for the next flight to Kansas City. The boys all slept on the floor of the gate lounge. We eventually arrived at Kansas City at midnight where we were met by Donald and Loni, Lena and Graham. They drove us to Lawrence and after a short chat we very gratefully fell into bed at 2am. With the 6-hour time difference this was a 24-hour marathon day. In fact Cathy had been awake for 50 hours straight.
