2001 - A Space Odyssey (the search for more space...)

Part 9 - New driveway (May 2003)

New concrete driveway laid by Ricke Conte over three days in between weeks of rain (lucky). It's been laid over the top of the old one, which probably dates back to the 1950s if not earlier, and was built on a foundation of ash from the steam locomotives that used to run on the western line. This one is 5 inches thick with reinforcing throughout, so should last a lifetime.
